    In the present book he examines in detail the last neglected corner of the composer's output, the thirty-seven known chamber cantatas for solo voice. Beyond his focus on Vivaldi's cantatas, Talbot has aimed ‘to present a well-rounded picture of the Baroque cantata in its last phase’ (p. xii) and he is the ideal person for this task. There is a short (page) but nicely-distilled biography of Vivaldi; but no need for an index of course.
